Scientists, politicians and activists have long predicted it: humanity is on the brink of a global food shortage. The only solution could be a secret US project led by Professor Brand. An expedition is to set off to another star system where habitable planets and raw materials are suspected. Engineer and ex-NASA pilot Cooper and Brand´s daughter Amelia lead the crew into unknown wormholes, with no certainty about what awaits them or when they will return. Cooper´s children, Murph and Tom, stay behind with their father-in-law Donald and hope for their return.
