After the death of the matriarch Violet Crawley, Lady Mary Talbot takes over responsibility for the Downton Abbey estate in the 1930s. She must face the challenges of modernity. While Lord and Lady Grantham continue to live on the estate, Mary increasingly manages to establish herself in London high society. In light of the rapid social changes, the residents and staff of Downton Abbey also face significant transformations. The Crawleys are experiencing increasing financial difficulties, which poses a great challenge not only for the family but also for all the staff.
